If you have both the Amex Platinum and Amex Gold, yes, the Uber credits stack. I get $25 deposited to my Uber Wallet on the 1st of every month.
That's really all there is to it. Add both cards to your Uber account, and the credits combine automatically.
TL;DR
- Amex Platinum: $15/month Uber Cash (+$20 bonus in December) = $200/year
- Amex Gold: $10/month Uber Cash = $120/year
- Combined: $25/month = $320/year when both cards are linked
- Credits deposit on the 1st, expire at month-end (no rollover)
- Works for Uber rides and Uber Eats
The Numbers
Here's how the credits break down:
- Amex Platinum: $15/month in Uber Cash ($180/year)
- Amex Platinum December bonus: Extra $20 ($200/year total)
- Amex Gold: $10/month in Uber Cash ($120/year)
Combined, that's $25/month or $320/year if you count the December bonus.
Both credits deposit on the 1st of each month. They go into the same Uber Wallet, so you can use them together on a single order or ride.
One note on timing: The December bonus from the Platinum ($20 extra) drops on December 1st along with your regular $15. So in December, you'll see $45 hit your Uber Wallet if you have both cards. That's a good month to do a nicer Uber Eats order or take a few longer rides.
How to Set It Up
You have to enroll each card separately. It takes about 5 minutes:
- Log into your Amex account
- Go to the Benefits Dashboard for your Platinum card
- Enroll in the Uber benefit and add the card to your Uber account
- Repeat for your Gold card
That's it. Once both cards are linked, the credits start stacking the following month.
One Thing to Know
The credits don't roll over. If you don't use your $25 by the end of the month, it's gone.
This applies to each card's credits separately. The Platinum's $15 expires at month-end. The Gold's $10 expires at month-end. They don't carry over to the next month.
The credits work for both Uber rides and Uber Eats. A few ways to make sure you're using them:
- Uber Eats pickup orders. Stretch credits further since there are no delivery fees. A $25 pickup order covers a solid meal for two.
- Uber rides work too, obviously. If you Uber even once or twice a month, you'll burn through the credits easily.
- Uber Eats delivery is fine if you don't mind the fees eating into your credit. Still better than letting it expire.
I usually do Uber Eats pickup when I remember to plan ahead, and delivery when I don't. Either way, $25/month is enough that it doesn't take much effort to use.
Bottom Line
If you've got both the Amex Platinum and Gold, make sure both cards are enrolled and linked to your Uber account. You'll get $25/month ($320/year with the December bonus) deposited automatically.
Otherwise you're leaving money sitting there.
